85 Surrey businesses gathered at the HG Wells Conference Centre in Woking last week to enjoy a delicious breakfast followed by some free advice from industry experts on how to use social media channels to grow their business.

After the bacon butties were devoured, a panel of four key speakers kept guests hooked with powerful presentations, including lots of practical tips, which they could take away and apply immediately to their own businesses:

  • Tracy Stonard from Magenta eMedia outlined 8 crucial steps that businesses need to take to create a successful online content marketing strategy.
  • Sally Pritchett, director and co-owner of Something Big, explained how to make the most of You Tube and Twitter for ‘free’ – and how to make the most of paid for campaigns.
  • Leigh Hopwood, managing director of Redd Marketing, shared her top tips on using LinkedIn
  • Nicky Kriel, discussed how GooglePlus can help grow your business

The free Social Media event, which was organised by Padua Communications for The Chartered Institute of Marketing in partnership with Woking Borough Council and Connect2Innovation was aimed at both beginners and intermediate users.

Once the presentations were over, many of the guests, particularly those who were already active on social media, entered into lively debate, and were very happy to share their top tips too.
