Organising a successful last-minute trade show for HP

Who did we help?

HP is a technology company that operates in more than 170 countries around the world. It provides infrastructure and business offerings that span from handheld devices to some of the world’s most powerful supercomputer installations. HP also offers consumers a wide range of products and services from digital photography to digital entertainment and from computing to home printing.

Where and when?

Padua Communications worked with HP Personal Systems Group (PSG) providing marketing and PR support for Screen Media Expo 2011 in the UK.

Why did they need us?

With a change in staffing a few weeks before the event, HP decided to bring in Padua Communications to oversee all activity in the run up to the event so that key deadlines wouldn’t be missed or overlooked. Padua Communications provided one point of contact for all the agencies involved with the show. This included the PR agency, the spokespeople for the keynote talks, the marketing and events teams at HP, the external logistics company used for shipping technical equipment to the main stand and partner stands along with the event and conference organisers.

What did we do?

Padua Communications was responsible for a range of activities in the run up to the show. These included drafting media alerts and press releases, liaising with the organiser’s press office to source opportunities for HP, organising the logistics for the technical equipment at the show and the delivery of creative artwork needed for branding opportunities. We also assisted with the briefing of key spokespeople and the drafting of supporting material for the keynote sessions and the exhibition show guide including spokespeople biographies. We liaised with HP spokespeople regarding the content for their speaker sessions as well as creating briefing books for senior execs, including Q&A docs. Padua Communications was the instigator of HP’s blogger outreach programme and social media strategy for the show.

What was the result?

All technical equipment arrived in good time for HP and its partners. The branding for the company was extensive throughout the show including adverts and editorial pieces in the show guide and branding in the social ‘café’ areas of the exhibition halls. As well as the main speaking slot, Padua Communications sourced additional opportunities for HP execs in the conference that ran alongside the show and provided all supporting materials where required.

“A big thank you to Padua Communications from all of us for all your hard work – it was very much appreciated and the whole event went really well.”
Samantha Wilson, Commercial Marketing Manager at HP
